Laciona, Greece, 1941

-----------------------

The following is translated from German to English

"Herr Müller!" A frightened German voice shrieked from the entrance to Dr. Bernard Müller's rented room. The German was looking through his stolen journal, the one that had belonged to Dr. Jones's son, Dennis.

You have terrible handwriting, Young Jones.

"What is it, Herr Schmidt?" Müller questioned, spinning around in the chair to face one of his most trustworthy men.

"We've lost the Pipe!"

Müller's face fell. "What."

"The Pipe!"

"I have ears, idiot! You lost the PIPE?!"

"The Pipe!"

"DO I LOOK DEAF TO YOU?!" Müller screamed back, "WHAT AM I GOING TO TELL HUBER, HMMM? THAT I LOST AN INSTRUMENT, YOU FOOL?"

SLAP!

Müller turned around, marching to the balcony of his room, "We were so close to getting Jones's brain, and you lose the Pipe?"

"I-If it helps, Herr Müller, we did manage to get some of his intelligence into the Pipe."

"Some doesn't mean door opening some." Müller gripped the railing of the balcony, "Who had the Pipe last?"

"Dr. Mariani's daughter, Müller."

Müller slammed a fist down on the railing, "WHAT IS SHE DOING HERE?!"

"We think she's allied with Dr. Jones!"

"SHE? After what her father has gone through to bring her to Rome, she allies with the ENEMY?!" Müller snapped his fingers out of frustration, "She was my last resort as well... That little... PEST! With her and that Brody man by their side, they're unstoppable!"

"She seems to be quite fond of Jones's son."

"That's even worse, she'll never join us... She has something up her sleeves, that one, and she's a danger to our plans!" Müller seethed, "She's always there- watching, on alert, ready to strike! Of course she has the Pipe..."

Silence. Müller's frustrated breathing was audible.

"Bernard..." Schmidt began, "What's this on the boy's book?"

"I looked through the book, Schmidt, all I found were things we knew already." Müller rubbed his temples, "Such as the vital Instruments and what they do..."

"But this here, Müller, at the beginning..." Schmidt flipped through the pages, "It says that perhaps the legend of Hercules could help us out with the location of the Door."

Müller halted. He didn't even think of looking at the beginning- he just thought it would get them nowhere since all of it was brainstorms.

"Perhaps..."

"And..." Schmidt tapped the journal more, "Why would Jones be here if we're looking for the Door?"

"Because it might..." Müller gasped, "Be here."

"Isn't there one spot in Laciona where the Door could be?!"

Müller snatched the book and flipped through it, "There is one, and I know Huber mentioned it... As one of his... Ideas..."

"Cape... Mat-"

"CAPE MATAPAN! HE WAS ONTO SOMETHING!" Müller coughed, putting the book into his satchel, "Schmidt, gather our men and relocate at Lake Matapan's cave. Jones will be there, I just know it." He chuckled, "Him, his son, and Herrin Mariani..."

"Yes, Herr Müller! HEIL HITLER!"

"HEIL HITLER!"

* * * *

Müller was pleased with himself. Already, he was walking through the streets with bravado, knowing full well that he'd corner Dr. Jones into one place, with just enough men to grab him and take his strength and intelligence. Everything was turning up Bernard Müller, and he couldn't get enough of it.

"I knew Cape Matapan was the place and time." Huber, who had joined him on his stroll to the next boat, commented, "I was quite a clever boy growing up, with all the Greek books my parents gave me."

"Yes, Herr Huber, you have no idea how much I-"

A voice stopped him.

"Herr Müller!" It was a female one, "Where would you be going on such short notice?"

Huber turned around, "Is that-?"

"I'll talk with you later, Herr Huber... I'll be at the boat shortly..." Müller waved his companion off.

He had recognized that voice almost immediately. "Herrin Mariani..." He grinned, a bit annoyed, "My men saw you at the bar..." He turned to see the 22 year old, who seemed too excited to see him. Too excited. She had her father's eager eyes, that was for sure. And there was the pendant tucked under her polo shirt. It was the same pendant her father bore.

"I saw them as well." She nodded.

"And, Mariani... I hear you have the pipe."

"Yes. That's what I've come to you about." Gianna smirked, "I have the Pipe, Bernard." She presented the quite hidden pan pipe under her jacket, "And it has a bit of Jones's wit in it, but sadly, a bit of your men's." She reported, "Now, I wish to aide you... But if we have two wits in one, then we have issues, correct?"

"Your German has gotten better, Mariani."

"Yes, yes, Bernard, I just request the ritual in order to remove the man's wit and return it, just to save Jones's brain for last, correct?"

"Interesting, I was just reading on such topic, actually..." Müller pulled out the stolen journal, "In your friend's journal, actually."

"Then what's the ritual?"

"You simply put it back in place, and..." Müller paused.

"And what?"

"And recite the words..." He reached a hand out.

Gianna didn't move, "And what?"

"GIVE ME THE PIPE, YOU STUPID GIRL!" He reached out to grab the pendant, but before his fingers graced it, Gianna screamed, "DR. JONES!"

Just as he grabbed the pendant, his right hand went limp, almost weakened, and he felt a bullwhip crack against his arm as the stolen book fell from his grasp. He fell, stumbling, and looked up just in time to see Gianna grab the book, stuffing the Pipe back into her jacket as she and the mute Dr. Jones ran away with their prizes.

"WAIT!" That's when he realized their direction in running. They weren't rushing to the next boat to Cape Matapan, not even going near it. They were going somewhere else.

Then, he saw a slip of paper on the ground. He picked it up. Written on the note was simply scrawled in Latin.

Mythos Romanus est. Iterum conare.

It's a Roman Myth. Try again.

Müller was fuming. Of course. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

"MEN!" He shrieked, holding his limp right hand as he stumbled over to the docking boat, "WE'RE GOING THE WRONG WAY!"

Translation Ended.
