Chapter 2: Feels Like Home
-Jack's POV-
"I know we're not just here to talk about Michael and Lilly's scholarships...there were others who died and were never found." A lady, older than me, said on a stage, Charlie, who was next to me and seemed nervous, "You good, Char?" I asked, "Y-Yeah...just...thinking..." she said, snapping back to reality, but even she knew how obvious that lie was, "I don't know what to say...I knew we were best friends but..." she trailed off, "It was in 1987...I understand...you both were 7. It's been 12 years...but I know you will do great, you knew her better than anyone, even me, her own twin brother! Seriously, she chose to play with you over her own twin brother!" I said and she laughed, "Thank god she laughed..." I thought, "Go on, champ, your up!" I said, "Thank you, Jack," She said as she left with a wave.
-Charlies' POV-
I walk up to a mic as pictures of Lilly and the family showed behind me, "I..." I froze for a moment, there were lots of people...then after a moment, I spoke, holding Lilly's base ball and plush rabbit in my hand, "My cousin...she...was a sweet kid...but always ahead...she should've been in 3rd grade with me and...the day she died, she was supposed to skip from 4th grade to 8th...everyone was proud of her...she had her scholarship...and we thought life was perfect...when she died...I don't remember much...all I knew was that I busted into my dad and Uncle Williams office, sobbing, holding her corpse...she...fought hard...fought through depression...loneliness...and bullying...and she succeeded for a while...but it only takes one loss...to topple it all...she loss the battle of life...but not the battle of joy...of love...of creation...of living through life...but most importantly...the battle of illness...Lilly was overall heathy...but was diagnosed with asthma and an illness that effected her digestive system and her hair. That illness is what gave her purple hair, her hair was hollow which made light reflect through it incorectly, but it also it made it so she couldn't eat correctly...she over came that illness in 1986. There was one thing that truly amazed me though...she had this little baseball that she would play with...she would bop it around...and did it for an hour once...she never dropped it...she was truly an out-standing kid..." I held out the old, dirty baseball, then got off stage as Jack went to talk about his adopted brother, Jake...
We were looking at the separate tables that represented each child...Jake, Michael, a little girl, two little boys...and Lilly... "Michael was a great drawer..." John said, "that he was..." Jack replied...I stood there, looking at the baseball and plush...why? Why was IT there...why was the baseball there...it makes no sense...all I know...is that the ball gave me a sense of home... "you good, Charlie...?" John said, making me snap back to attention... "Yeah...there's a lot on my mind, that's all..." this time I told the truth...there was a lot on my mind...a lot that scared me...but a lot that...felt like home...and so did hurricane...it felt like home...
We all walked outside when Carlton had an idea, "We should go to Freddy's! It should still be there, right?" He said, "They built a mall around it, actually...I requested they build around Freddy's in honor of my sister, brother, and the rest of the missing kids...place's abandoned now, but my dad took my keys to the place when I quit 'working' at Freddy's..." Jack chimed in, "Lilly was a 'night guard', she gave me a copy of her keys so I could sneak in with her when one of the night gaurds babysat her...I still have them." I said as I held up the keys, "So...you're saying we break in?" Lamar asked, "I'm saying we go check out Freddy's," I replied, "then lets go, cmon!" Jessica said as she ran to her car...

We walked towards the abandoned mall, Michael came with his kids in tow, and yelled at us from his car, "What are you guys doing?! That's a no trespassing area!" Michael was an officer, so even when off duty, he had to work... "Uh...well, uh...we...wanted to see if Freddy's was still here-" Michael then cut me off, "Jack Violet Afton, you know better, chief could take your badge for this!"
