Author's Note: Sometimes the writing may seem overly poetic and disjointed, but everything will come together like a grand puzzle, I promise you.

March 7th, 2060

The smell of burning flesh was still in his lungs.

Elias woke at 3:47 AM, as always. Cold sweat clung to his skin and the metallic taste of phantom blood filled his mouth. In the apartment's darkness, only the emergency lights flickered — small red dots that looked like eyes watching him sleep.

He rolled out of bed, his bare feet meeting the cold floor. The tower where he lived cut through Nova Sion's clouds like a blade, offering a panoramic view of the metropolis stretching to the horizon. Through the smart windows, holographic advertisements danced between buildings — luminous promises of happiness that he knew were carefully programmed lies.

But it wasn't the city that had woken him.

It was the dream. The same one as always.

Elias walked to the kitchen, his muscles still tense from the nightmare. He opened the cabinet where he kept his most dangerous secrets — small vials containing golden powder that glowed with its own light. Dried herbs from the Iris Tree, the only substance capable of opening the locked doors of his mind.

He prepared the tea with ritual movements. The boiling water transformed the powder into a viscous liquid that slid down his throat like bitter honey. The effect was immediate — the apartment walls began to undulate, reality folded at the edges, and the common world dissolved.

In the center of his altered vision, a figure began to form.

It wasn't human, though sometimes its contours suggested arms and legs. It was made of condensed light that flowed like golden water, an ancient presence that observed through eyes that were rifts in space itself. It floated in a meditative position, as if it held invisible worlds between its hands.

The entity had never spoken to him directly.

Until that morning.

"Five veils obscure the face of reality," its voice was like crystal shattering in the air. "One by one, the lies dissolve. Seek the fragmented mirror, for it is both door and key — the secret that the Bearer hides in his torn heart."

Elias tried to speak, but his throat was closed. The vision intensified and in the entity's eyes — two collapsing galaxies — he saw a city in flames, towers melting like candles, and crowds running toward a light that would consume them completely.

"Every truth is a mirror," the entity whispered. "It fragments when contemplated for too long. And you, Elias Voss, are the observer who must choose between seeing or remaining whole."

The apartment trembled. The floor became liquid, objects spun in impossible orbits. Vertigo dragged him back to the surface of common consciousness, but the words remained engraved in his mind like luminous scars.

Elias found himself collapsed on the kitchen floor, his heart beating like a war drum. The pendant he always wore around his neck — a stylized flame in unknown metal, his mother's inheritance — burned against his skin like an ember.

He stood up staggering and activated the NeuroGlasses. The neural interface connected directly to his brain impulses, and a familiar voice echoed through the auditory implants:

"Good morning, my dear brother. Today is Monday, March 7th."

For an instant — just an instant — Elias allowed himself to believe that Ana was really talking to him. That she hadn't died because of his fault. That he could still protect her.

"Thank you, Ana AI," he responded with a voice devoid of feeling. "Archive dream record number one thousand and fifty-four."

The voice that answered him now was mechanical, processed:

"Understood. Dream archive 1054 successfully created in the system."

Elias positioned his fingers on the neural interface, allowing thoughts to automatically transform into text:

"The luminous entity spoke for the first time. Mentioned ten veils and a fragmented mirror. The reference to the 'Bearer' seems directed at me — but what scar do I hide in my heart? And why did my mother's pendant react during the vision?"

The pendant's metal still radiated abnormal heat. Whenever he touched it, fragments of forbidden memories emerged: his mother singing in extinct languages, stories about a time when love was stronger than death, whispered promises that the world had decided to forget.

He put on the dark coat and prepared for another day navigating between revealing madness and calculated sanity. The city awaited him outside — an ocean of despair disguised as progress.

But today would be different. He could feel it in the fibers of his bones, in the echo of the entity's words, in the heat of the pendant against his chest.

Today, the first veil would begin to tear.

On the NeuroGlasses screen, a maximum priority message began to flash. Government security codes he recognized — the system that had recruited him years ago, when they discovered his mind could perceive patterns that escaped conventional investigators.

Elias hesitated, his finger suspended over the interface. Accepting that call would mean returning to a world he had deliberately abandoned — a universe of calculated violence and death disguised as justice.

But then a voice that could have been Ana's, or perhaps just his own guilt whispering, echoed in his mind:

"You didn't save me, brother. Maybe you can still save others."

He activated the call.

The voice that emerged from the auditory implants hit him like an emotional tsunami. It was Mira — but not as he remembered her. There was authority born from experience, vocal scars that suggested screams given in moments of desperation.

"Elias." The way she pronounced his name carried the weight of years not lived together. "It's Tessa Marin. Nineteen years old."

Pause. Controlled breathing.

"Like Ana."

The silence that followed was dense as lead. Elias felt something contract in his stomach — trauma reactivated by a simple combination of words.

"Ten years, Mira."

"I know. But it's the Broken Key. Same cross made from pieces of the victim's bones. Same ritual."

Elias closed his eyes, pressing his fingers against his temples where a headache pulsed. Silas, the Broken Key assassin — the serial killer who had terrorized the city years ago, before disappearing as suddenly as he had emerged.

The image of Ana dead overlapped with Mira's voice talking about another girl. Nineteen years old. The same age.

"Where?"

"Slate Tower dump. It smells like dried blood here. And something else... something I can't identify."

Elias looked through the window at the metropolis stretching below. Something was beginning — he could feel it in his bones, in the pendant that still burned, in the resonance of the prophetic words echoing in his mind.

Five veils obscure the face of reality.

Seek the fragmented mirror.

You are the observer who must choose between seeing or remaining whole.

"I'm already on my way," he said finally.

The connection ended, leaving him alone with the weight of a decision he knew had no return. Ten years of silence were about to be broken. And in the depths of his fragmented soul, a part he thought had died with Ana began, very cautiously, to awaken.

The first veil was about to tear.

And Elias Voss, bearer of invisible scars and buried secrets, took the first step on a journey that would change not only his own existence, but the fate of all humanity.

Outside, Nova Sion pulsed with artificial life, ignoring that in its darkest depths, something ancient and terrible had just awakened.
