Maya Verma believed in three things: coffee, deadlines, and the precise hex code #2C3E50. As a senior designer at Chroma Studios, she built her reputation on minimalist elegance. Her world was slate grays, navy blues, and the occasional splash of white space.
“Love is just dopamine with bad typography,” she told her intern once.
So when her boss announced a high-stakes pitch for Spectrum—a dating app rebrand—Maya assumed she’d lead it alone. Instead, she got a partner.
“Meet Aarav Nair,” her boss said. “Color psychologist. He’ll handle emotion. You’ll handle logic.”
Aarav walked in wearing a mustard-yellow blazer, teal sneakers, and a smile that seemed to have its own color wheel. “Great space,” he said, touching her all-gray mood board. “Very… monochromatic. Like a silent film about sadness.”
Maya’s eye twitched.
