After last night, Rachel has been sleeping like a baby. Her Father had another outbreak. She managed to control it, but it wore her out. She deserves the rest. Sam was watching her by her bedside. 

Sam: You'll power through this, Rae. I know it.

He hears Dick walk in.

Dick: How is she?

Sam: Better, for now. 

Dick: She'll make it through.

Sam: I wish I'd known sooner. She must've been battling this for a while. And I thought I had it rough.

Dick: She told you her story, right?

Sam: Yeah... about that...

Dick: What?

Sam: Remember the day you saw her smile, not long after I joined?

Dick: Yeah. That still shocks me.

Sam: The night before, I battled Trigon... in her head, somehow.

Dick: You did what?

Sam: I know, I know. I don't know how, but it happened. I can't wrap my head around it.

Dick: Well, you're full of surprises. 

Just then, Kori walked in.

Kori: Guys, we just got an alert. There are more of Black Mask's men terrorizing the streets. We need to get out there.

Dick: Right. Sam, we could use your help.

He was hesitant. He looked back at Rachel, unsure if he should leave her side.

Dick: She'll be alright.

He nods before standing up. He went back to his room, suited up, grabbed his sword, and met everyone else downstairs.

Beetle: You alright?

Sam: I'm good.

Nightwing: Okay, you all know what's happening. These goons have spread across the city. We'll split up into two teams.

He arranged team members, with one team taking the east and the other the west.

Nightwing: Let's move!

They quickly started heading for their designated sides, Demi heading towards the west. He and some other Titans eventually got to a spot where goons were destroying property with a tank.

Nightwing: Demi, Beetle, Beast Boy, handle the tank. Everyone, take out those goons!

They split off. Demi quickly impaled his sword into one side of the tank while Beelte shot out the other side. Beast Boy then transformed into a gorilla and smashed the barrel off. 

Demi: Nice work!

Beetle and Beast Boy nodded as Nightwing and the others took out the last goon. Just then, a mech came crashing down to the street behind them.

Demi: Shit!

Beetle: Take it down!

Beast Boy transformed into a rhino and tried to ram into it, but failed due to its piercing armor. Demi managed to get on top of it and impale his blade into its shoulder, but it didn't cut it off.

Nightwing: Everyone, converge here! We got a mech!

Beetle flew up and fired shots at its underside and managed to do some damage, but not enough.

Starfire and the others showed up to see them battling the mech.

Starfire: Hang on!

She fired at the mech with Beetle, and it was working. They were damaging it. Robin then glided in and placed sticky bombs on its arm. As they exploded, they revealed an opening in the mech's arm.

Demi: Now we're getting somewhere!

Demi quickly got up onto a building, jumped as high as he could, and slashed downwards with his sword towards the opening. He managed to cut it clean off.

Cyborg: Here we go...

Cyborg started messing with the arm that had just fallen. He managed to get it up and running.

Cyborg: Guys, I need someone to lift this thing!

Beast Boy turned into a gorilla and lifted its arm, aiming towards the mech. Cy quickly fired the shot with that energy, and it went through the mech, destroying it.

Nightwing: Nice job...

Everyone regained themselves before regrouping. Just then, a fiery essence was seen falling from the sky. It landed right behind them in the street.

Beetle: What is that?

Starfire: Oh no...

The fire quickly charged right at Demi before he could react. It went straight into his body and disappeared. 

Demi: What the--- ARRGH!

The fire started spreading across his body, painfully.

Beast Boy: Demi?!

Demi: Don't... touch me!

He stepped back, kneeling to the ground from the pain. A set of red eyes formed on his forehead.

Nightwing: It's taking over! He's holding his own, but we need to help! Cyborg?

Cyborg: I'm trying!

The fires were almost about to consume Demi. But just then, his lightning started breaking through.

Beetle: What's he doing?

Nightwing: I don't know, but get back!

The lightning intensified, greater and greater. He was managing to break the fire consuming him.

Demi: AHHHH!

He exploded in lightning, pushing the essence out of his body. He fell to the ground, out of breath.

Demi: Ugh...

The others ran over to help him.

Cyborg: He's burning up.

Nightwing: Let's get him back!

Just then, Demi fell unconscious. 

When he slowly woke back up, he saw he was back in his room. There were some burn marks on his arms.

Sam: Ow... what happened?

Just then, Dick walked in to check on him, only to see that he was finally awake.

Dick: Sam! How are you feeling?

Sam: I feel... gassed. What happened?

Dick: You passed out from that... thing. You've been out since yesterday. 

Sam: What... what was that thing?

Dick: That was a demon. They are... most likely from Trigon. He sent one of them to take over your body. You got lucky, though. 

Sam: Very lucky... Rae. Where is she?

Dick: She's alright. She's out right now with Kori trying to find out where that demon went. You need to rest. 

Sam: I'll... try.

Dick: Okay. I'll let you know in a little bit. Let me know if you need anything.

He then walked out of the room, leaving Sam to think about everything that had just happened. He was also worried about Rachel.

After a while, Rachel came running through his door while he was eating, leaping into a tight hug.

Sam: Hey. You okay?

Rachel: Are you okay?

Sam: Yeah, I'm good. What about you?

Rachel: I'm fine. I heard what happened. I thought something had happened to you...

Sam: I'll survive. Rae, why didn't you say something sooner?

Rachel: I... I could handle it. And you were going through a lot of pain, so I didn't want you to worry.

Sam: Rae... I don't want you to suffer like that.

Rachel: It's my fault this happened to you... 

Sam: Just... tell me next time, okay?

She nods before holding him closer. She was ready to sleep there with him, and so she did. They both deserve the rest.
