He towered over them as they stood there with the knocked-out team leader. Demi pulled out his sword and held them back.

Demi: Stay back, pal!

Trigon: You don't scare me, boy. 

He walked closer without hesitation. Before he got any closer, Beetle swooped down and shot at him from behind, but it did nothing. Trigon grabbed him by the ankle and threw him away.

Trigon: Puny humans. This world doesn't deserve to thrive.

Demi then tries to slash at him, but his laser eyes knock his sword out of his hand. Trigon then grabs him by the throat, holding him in the air.

Trigon: I underestimated your power before. That will not happen again. You will all burn at my grasp as I turn this world to ash.

Demi: Yeah... we get the point... 

He tightens his grip. With Starfire trying to get Nightwing away, there was nothing else she could do. Just then, Raven flew in and chained Trigon's other arm, trying to pull him away.

Trigon: Dear daughter... why do you care so much?

Raven: Get away from him!

Trigon: As you wish.

He ignites Demi in flames before throwing him far into the water.

Raven: NO!

She tries to follow, but Triogn grabs her by her leg and throws her to the ground.

Trigon: I still need you to accomplish my goal, daughter.

Raven: I'll never do it...

Trigon: I'm not asking.

He grabs her by the throat and starts ascending. The other Titans finally show up to try and help her, but he was too strong and his power was way more immense than theirs. In the end, all they could do was watch as he lifted to the sky with Raven, taking her somewhere.

Beetle: We have to help her!

Kid Flash: You're gonna get yourself killed!

Robin: We need to figure out where he's taking her!

Starfire: We need to regroup... Dick needs help... And Demi... I don't know what to do...

They all stood there in silence as the atmosphere grew darker, like the sky. They eventually went back into the Tower, providing care to Nightwing, but they had little time to fix all this.

Meanwhile, they had no idea that Demi narrowly survived that. He swam out of the water to the city, which was already being infested with more demons. He felt weakened, but he had to keep moving. He had no idea where to go, though. Back to the Tower? Hide? Or... finally go home?

After handling a few demons, he sat on a roof, watching the world come up into flames from Trigon's influence. It was like hell, but in heaven.

Demi: Mom... Can you hear me? I don't... I don't know what to do... I made a promise to you, but... 

He took out the device and looked at it, debating on this choice.

Demi: I've never felt like that before... ass kicked... afraid...

Afraid. A word of many meanings.

Demi: I'm afraid of letting everyone die, including Rae, but... I don't know how to make it right...

???: Were we not clear?

Demi: Who said that?

Zeus: You know who it is, champion.

Demi: You... Why? Why did you pick me!? Why did you choose a helpless kid when there are so many better choices?!

Zeus: You were not chosen. 

Demi: What?

Zeus: You were destined from birth to carry this burden. The day we granted you your strengths, we knew from the very beginning that we had gifted them correctly.

Demi: So I'm destined to fail?

Zeus: We all fail. But that's what makes you who you are. That's why you are here now. You prevail with more confidence than I have seen in centuries. So you can either suffer, knowing what's to come. Or you can fulfill your destiny; Prevail to succeed. I leave the answer to you.

The voice fades, leaving Demi in shock and realization. He understands now that he may fail all the time, but he will always figure it out. That's why he's gotten this far; he never gave up.

Demi: I'm PlayStation Jesus! Of course I can do this!

He healed back up and headed back to the Tower to regroup with the others. When he got there, everyone was hunkered down in the lounge. They were shocked to see Demi still alive.

Starfire: Sam! You're okay! 

Demi: Better than okay. I know what we have to do. It's simple. Take that asshole out.

Robin: Are you stupid? He nearly killed you.

Starfire: With the Justice League still off-world, we need their help.

Demi: The longer we wait, the more likely we are to die. I'm not asking you to risk your life, but I'm going. I'll find them.

Beetle: How will you find them?

Demi: Cyborg. Can you trace their path?

Cyborg: It'll take some time, but yeah. 

Beast Boy: What now?

Demi: I need to grab something. You guys need to contact whoever is out there fighting, let them know what's going on. I'll be back as soon as I can.

He quickly got to the roof and used his power to leap over the walkway from the Tower to the city. He was going back to Black Mask's hideout, the manufacturing basement.

When he got there, it was abandoned by the police, but none of the equipment was touched. He found the energy source and grabbed it. He had an idea. He got back outside and noticed more demons were appearing. He easily slashed through them and got back to the Tower to come up with a plan.
