Venice, Italy, 1941

------------------------

The three gentlemen sat in silence outside the airport as Sparky checked his watch. In the open air, with loud planes coming and going, Indiana didn't actually mind whether or not Sparky's new friend was coming. It was just another person to lug onto the plane.

He looked through his journal, keeping a low profile. Anyone could recognize him in Italy.

"What does your friend look like, Dennis?" Marcus asked.

"You'll know her when you see her." Sparky smirked.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"Spítha!" An eager voice called from the large crowd of people with briefcases and other forms of carry-ons. Dispersing from the crowd came a young woman- around Sparky's age- with long brunette hair, a satchel slung around her shoulder, and a circular pendant around her neck.

That's an awfully obvious pendant.

"Gianna!" Sparky stood up and walked his friend over, "Marcus, Dad, this is Gianna Mariani."

"I go to school with Spítha."

"Spítha?" Marcus and Indiana questioned- Indiana silently and Marcus very loudly. They both looked at Sparky, who chuckled nervously.

"It means 'Spark' in Greek."

"You let her call you 'Sparky'?" Indiana smirked through his mouthing.

"He didn't tell me about his nickname until I begged him to." Gianna responded, as if she was hearing Indiana's words in real time, "Spítha is fond of you, Dr. Jones."

Indiana looked up at Gianna after a moment of realization, "How could you know what I was saying?"

"Gia reads lips." Sparky smiled, "She also knows a great deal about the Door."

"It's true." Gianna nodded, pulling out her rounded pendant, "My father was one of the first to speak about the Door."

"Greek and Italian." Sparky added, "She's in the middle of it all."

"Well, let's get on a flight before we're last in line." Indiana mouthed, getting up and taking most of Sparky's stuff as he led the crew. Marcus stayed close by his friend as Sparky and Gianna trailed behind, talking in a silly Italian-Greek mix of words, with Gianna switching between the two with ease and Sparky hesitating before responding. Indiana remarked in his mind that Sparky needed to work on conjugations when talking so fast, but, who cares...?

While waiting for the entryway into the plane to be right in front of him, Indiana caught some bits of conversation coming from his son and his friend.

"Quindi tuo padre è stato messo a tacere dal Flauto?" Asked Gianna.

So your father was silenced by the flute?

"Non ho idea di come ci sia riuscito. Il rituale è così complicato che ci vorrebbe un-"

I have no idea how he did it. The ritual is so complicated, it would take a-

"Facista?"

"Non un fascista qualunque."

Not just any Facist.

"Pensi che abbiano un intellettuale dalla loro parte?"

Do you think they have an intellectual on their side?

"Sembra proprio di sì. Non lo farebbe mai a se stesso; non si rende ridicolo con i manufatti."

Seems so. He would never do it to himself; he doesn't make a fool of himself with artifacts.

Gianna chuckled, "Sto iniziando a fidarmi più di tuo padre che di te."

I'm starting to trust your father more than you.

"Non sei l'unico." Sparky shot back playfully.

You're not the only one.

As soon as they got on board, Indiana sat next to Marcus, granting himself the window seat to avoid conversation, and Marcus choosing the aisle seat to converse with Sparky and Gianna, who were sitting in the chairs next to them, after the aisle.

Pulling out his notebook, Indiana flipped to a new page- he had learned so much from Sparky.

Why didn't this appear in my studies at all?

First, what he did was add the whole "gates of hell" thing.

The Door of Reflection- The Gates to Hades, requires Voice, Strength, and Wit

Blank Plain instruments found.

He nudged Marcus on the shoulder, pointing to Sparky. "I need his book."

"What?" Marcus's head whipped around.

"Book." Indiana mouthed again.

"Gianna, can you-"

"Oh! Sir, I thought you might want to read up on my book!" Sparky gasped, reaching over Gianna in the aisle seat to hand over his journal on the Door to Marcus, "I'm gonna look in Gianna's instead."

Marcus smiled at his partner as soon as he handed him the book. "Well, isn't that nice of him?"

Indiana made a small arm-throw in the air, snatching the book. The stupid things that happen when you're mute.

"Back to Greece!" Marcus nudged Indiana.

"Back to Greece." Indiana silently echoed, crossing his arms and looking out the window, putting his fedora on his head for any potential snoozing while in flight.

The following is translated from German to English

The white-haired man approached his partner, who was currently enjoying himself on the boat that they had just taken off in- heading to the more "shoreline" parts of Greece ever since they had met at Athens.

The white haired man made an "ahem" sound. "Enjoying your ride, Herr Huber?" He asked, his eyebrows raising a bit.

"It's marvelous, Herr Müller." Huber smiled, looking at the man, "Our plan is going well. The Fuhrer will be in awe at his new power." He fiddled with his tie as he turned to face the white-haired man, "I assume... Herr Jones... Is taken care of?"

Müller looked off into the distance, at the teal-blue waters of Greece, "What about Jones?"

"Our essences, Müller!" Huber laughed, "I assume you have all we need?"

Müller didn't respond. But Huber sure did.

"What did you do with Jones?!"

"I performed the ritual."

"Müller, there is not THE ritual, it's THREE rituals!"

"The."

"What did you take from him?!"

"Give me time, Huber!" Müller snapped, "He got away."

"With what?"

"We have the Instruments, Huber, isn't that what you wanted?!"

"What I wanted was Jones."

Müller crossed his arms, "We have his voice, Herr Huber. We just need the brains and brawn."

"YOU IDIOT!" Huber slapped the back of his friend's head, "What have you done?! I wanted EVERYTHING to be TAKEN from JONES!"

"We have his voice!"

"DID YOU NOT READ ANYTHING IN THE BOOK I GAVE YOU?!" Huber rubbed his temples, "One essence must be connected to all of the essences... Which means if we have his voice, we must get our hands on everything else."

Müller grunted as he shook Huber off, "Are you suggesting we go back and fetch Jones?"

"CONNECTED!" Huber turned to the person maneuvering the boat, "TURN THIS BOAT AROUND AT ONCE!"

"Herr Huber! Herr Huber..." Müller approached his friend, giving the steerer a nod and a wave before facing him, "If we need Jones for the rest of the essences... Then we sit and wait at the cave." He smirked, "He'll be walking right up to us."

Translation Ended.
