Collecting 7 Chaos Emeralds lets one transform into Super Form. What if someone left the world while changing? In that case, the Emeralds fuse to a mobian-like character - Meraldus. After aimlessly causing destruction, it decays back.

To prevent Meraldus’s return, Master Emerald chose Ostoyas, ‘’The Props’’. Their job is to sense the gems’ location and intervene if necessary.

A little guinea pig, whose name was Esse Mess, went with his parents to a place called Chaos Shrine. He looked straight into the centre of ‘’The Chaos’’. That left an intrusive sound of tapping in his mind. The only thing that soothed him was causing disorder.

Mess decided to resurrect Meraldus, hoping to achieve nirvana. To do this, he collected all the Chaos Emeralds and abducted a character named Victo. His sacrifice was supposed to summon Meraldus. The guinea pig was so determined and unpredictable that he beat the Ostoyas one by one. Courtrix and Matura were the last.

They decided to retreat and strike back. Courtrix jumped into Matura's shield and they flew through the forest. Mess was going after them. Courtrix said that they would be faster if Matura had changed the shape into a sphere and she could have run. The wolf explained that she had never tried that and it had been too risky. But Courtrix looked in her eyes confidently and gained her full trust. Matura used all her focus to change the shape of the shield. It worked. With the cheetah propelling them, they were much faster.

Eventually, Mess got them. He tazered the cheetah. He said, "Lay here nicely and I won't hurt you. I know there's not many cheetahs out there". He was right, but Courtrix couldn't let him take Matura down! She tried to move. It was no use, unfortunately. Mess defeated her last friend!

The guinea pig was about to kill Victo, when suddenly, Knuckles's sister appeared, gliding on her wings made of fire. She took the Chaos Emeralds away and saved the day. That gave Courtrix and Matura some room to deal with Mess. After that, Scarlett was admired by the Ostoyas.

Scarlett challenged Knuckles to a duel again. She won and became the 446th Emerald Guardian. Knuckles coped with the defeat well, because he could finally leave Emerald Forest.
